Iranian ‘Driving Lessons’ to vie at Spanish fest

Iran’s ‘Driving Lessons’ is to compete at the 2020 Festival de Cine de Granada in Spain.

Iranian short flick ‘Driving Lessons’ has been selected to compete at the 26th edition of the Festival de Cine de Granada in Spain.

Directed by Marzieh Riahi, ‘Driving Lessons’ is about a woman named Bahareh who has a driving test to pass.

She has to have her traditional chauvinistic husband accompany her during driving lessons so that she and her instructor are not alone together.

The film’s cast members include Linda Kiani, Alireza Sanifar, Salar Khamseh, and Sanaz Mesbah.

Riahi’s film has previously grabbed more than ten international awards, some of which are Best Short Narrative award at the Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival in the US, jury’s special award at the Film Festival for Women's Rights in South Korea, and Best Long Narrative award at the Annual Big Muddy Film Festival in the US.

The 26th edition of the Festival de Granada aims to provide a space for discovery and opinion exchanging.

Honoring Spain’s well-known poet Federico García Lorca, the festival will admire the winners with presenting Lorca Awards.

The 2020 edition of the event will be held on October 21-24.
